Mr. Foster came to our facility needing extensive rehabilitation due to a recent fall at home, which resulted in a fractured hip. To help maintain his motivation, Dale Neal, Physical Therapy Assistant, challenged Mr. Foster to walking a certain distance and if accomplished Dale would cheer Mr. Foster on in a cheerleading uniform. Two days before discharge Mr. Foster walked the distance. When leaving the facility, Dale met Mr. Foster in a cheerleading skirt and Pompoms! There were lots of laughs, lots of tears, and lots of love! “I was just tinkled pink when I saw Dale. You all care so much about your patients, and it really shows. I will never forget that feeling of celebrating my accomplishment.” –Pearce Foster

Upon admission, Mr. Foster was unable to dress himself, had no mobility, and could not perform his activities of daily living. At discharge, Mr. Foster had mobility via wheelchair, could transfer and dress himself, and could perform his activities with ease.
